PC Magazine’s Top Free Apps – 2009

The economy has a lot of people cutting costs and saving money any way they can. Thankfully, PC Magazine has come up with their annual “best free applications” for 2009 (173 total applications).

Every year, PC Magazine researches the best free PC software and free online web applications and then produces a list that every PC user should see. “All are worthy replacements for your ancient and sometimes forgotten desktop applications, and they’ll save you thousands of dollars to boot,” states PC Magazine’s writer, Eric Smith.

Some of the many categories are App Launches, Audio/Music, Backup software, Browsers, Email programs and Finance/Accounting software. PC Magazine’s denotes their favorite software and web applications with a “Hall of Fame” next to the description.
