To use the Backup or Restore Wizard in Windows XP Professional:

  1. Go to the Windows Start menu, then choose the Accessories option, followed by the System Tools option, the Back-up option, and finally click Next.
  2. Now click Back up files and settings and then click Next.
  3. Select the item to be backed up and then click Next.
  4. Specify the location where the back up should be stored.
    (Best to use a separate device, like a USB flash drive, and external hard disk, or a network location.)
  5. Enter a name for the back up and then click the Next button.
  6. Click the Finish button.
