When trying to analyze hardware or device problems, you might not be able to see the removable devices in the Windows XP device manager. It is possible to tweak Windows XP to change this behavior, and see all hardware devices in the device manager.
When you are running Windows XP, you might have upgraded many of the programs that come with it. Internet Explorer has been upgraded to version 7, and for the messenger there now is Live Messenger. So better leave the interval at a reasonable level and use the manual hibernation option to save power when you know you won’t need the PC for a while.
