How to Fix MS Outlook PST file using ScanPST.exe
ScanPST.exe is a free email scanning utility in Microsoft Office that is designed to scan through your Outlook’s PST File (which contains all of your emails) and check if there are any errors in it. Once errors are identified, ScanPST provides you options on how to fix them.
A typical error message from Outlook can be “The set of folders cannot
be opened. Errors have been detected in the file (path). Quit Outlook and all
mail-enabled applications and then use the Inbox repair tool (scanpst.exe) to
diagnose and repair errors in the file. For more information about the Inbox
repair tool, see Help.”

If you still have problems with an Outlook .pst file after running scanpst.exe, try using Stellar Outlook Repair Tool.
Thanks Kylie, I found them, but when I click on scanpst, it comes up with a box, asking, “enter the name of the file you want to scan”?? Gives a browse option, but I can’t progress from there. Can you help please?
@Clyde – Both the scanpst.exe and scanost.exe programs are residing in the Office program folder.
In my case for example they are in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12
How do I find scanpst.exe, when I search my computer nothing comes up, when I input in Help, nothing comes up, can I download pgm from Microsoft???
This is an excellent tip. Thanks!
