Disable Outlook Express Splash Screen
Outlook Express is one of the default Windows programs that show a splash screen during startup. If you do not want the splash screen in Outlook Express, you can disable it through a simple registry change. This will help speed up Outlook Express a little when starting.
Keep in mind that modifying the Windows Registry should be done with care. The Windows Registry is an important part of your Windows configuration and problems can lead to serious Windows errors. If you are not comfortable editing the Windows Registry manually, please do not try this tweak.
In all cases, make a regular backup of your Windows Registry.
Follow the steps below for this change:
- From the Windows Start menu, select Run. In the Run box, type regedit and click OK.
- In the Registry Editor, locate the following key:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\<UNIQUE NUMBER>\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\5.0
- From the Edit menu, select New and pick DWORD Value.
- Enter NoSplash as the Name for the new value.
- Double-click the new NoSplash value, and enter a 1 as the value.
- Next, click OK.
- Close the Registry Editor. Select Exit from the File menu.
This simple windows tweak will ensure Outlook Express no longer shows the splash screen during startup, which will make the startup of Outlook Express a little faster, and prevent the Outlook Express startup screen to be in your way while you are still doing something else.
If you want to revert the change, and show the Outlook Express splash screen again, replace the 1 by a 0.
Thank you. It works.
