How To Show or Hide the Preview Pane in Outlook Express
To show or hide the Preview Pane in Outlook Express:
- Open Outlook Express.
- In the View menu, select Layout.
- In the Layout dialog box, clear the Show preview pane checkbox to disable the Preview Pane. To enable the Preview Pane, select the checkbox.
- If enabled, use the Below messages and Beside messages radio buttons to select the location of the Preview Pane. The Show preview pane header checkbox turns on and off the header, which will repeat the sender, receiver and subject of the message.
Please keep in mind that when the Preview Pane is enabled, scrolling through your message list can be a bit slower. Outlook Express will load and display the content of each message when previewed, which can take time depending on the source and the e-mail content.
Thank you – I needed to uncheck the preview pane header box, but the wording was confusing-sounds the opposite of what it should say. Like why would’nt I want to show the header? Now it works, thank you, this was free too!
@uu – Can you be more specific? Can you activate the preview pane at all? And if you are getting an error message what is it?
i cannot read or view a message in preview pane
thanks for the help….
