Ballmer Reports Windows 7 Is Like Vista
PC Authorities has reported several times on the rumors that have circled the web around Windows’ future operating system, the successor to Windows Vista. As it was reported this week, Windows 7 will be officially the name for the new operating system.
Microsoft’s CEO, Steve Ballmer, reportedly said yesterday that Windows 7 will be just like Windows Vista, only better. According to InfoWorld’s article, Steve Ballmer responded, “Windows Vista is good, Windows 7 is Windows Vista with clean-up in user interface [and] improvements in performance.” When asked how Microsoft would “walk the line” in regards to doing too much with Windows 7 or doing too little, Ballmer quipped, “Look, I’m not encouraging anybody to wait, I’d go ahead and deploy it right away. We didn’t have to go in an incompatible direction to make big strides forward.”
Ballmer also mentioned he understood PC users who wanted to wait until Windows 7 released and who would continue using Windows XP and therefor bypass Windows Vista. “If people want to wait, they certainly can,” he said.
