Internet Explorer 8: Released Today
Microsoft is releasing Internet Explorer 8 out of beta today around 12:00pm EST. The new browser has several new features as well as new security features.
PC World says there are five main things you need to know before downloading this new browser:
(1) Manual Download Only – you can only download IE8 today at www.microsoft.com/ie8
(2) No Windows 7 Version Yet – If you’re still using the Windows 7 beta, you will need to stick with IE8 RC1 (versus the full version) because there is no Win 7 version at this time.
(3) Security Questions – PC World says they’re not so sure on how secure IE8 is although Microsoft claims it’s the most secure browser yet.
(4) Speed? – Safari 4 claims the fastest speed and Microsoft’s IE8 is supposedly much faster than IE7 and FireFox 3.
(5) PC World states that many websites are still formatted for IE7 so there may be compatibility issues with websites and IE8. That’s still to be determined.
Thank you. It works.
