As the world knows, yesterday a US Airways jet crashed into the Hudson River near NYC. It became breaking news on all the cable news channels within 20 minutes of the crash with one picture that went across the globe. According to Alley Insider, Twitter played an important role. How?
One of the witnesses from yesterday snapped a photo on his cell phone and immediately uploaded it to Twitter. Thirty-four minutes later, MSNBC was interviewing him on the air. Twitter is becoming more and more relevant in regards to social networking making a difference in the ways individuals interact online. Whether it’s regarding breaking news or a hot new tech item being announced, Twitter seems to always play a major role.
President-Elect Obama as well as Senator McCain used Twitter on the campaign trail and companies are jumping on the bandwagon too. Recruiters and employers are using Twitter to network with talented candidates and people are using Twitter to hear about new job openings. What are your thoughts on Twitter? I use it every day almost religiously on my phone. When I first heard about it in late 2007 I kept asking myself what is so special about this? Over time I found it works on my phone,web, and so many other applications. I think it is pretty amazing as I hear about news storied immediately even when I am at work. I love it.
