Speed Up Windows Start Menu
When you click on the Start button on the Windows Taskbar, the Start Menu is displayed. You might not be aware of it, but there is a short delay between your click and the actual opening op the menu.
The good news is that you can change easily this delay, and speed up the Start Menu. To change the delay in the Start Menu, you need to change a registry setting:
- Start the Registry Editor. From the Windows Start menu, select Run and in the Run box, type regedit and click OK.
- In the Registry Editor, locate the following registry key in the left-hand tree view:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop. - In the list on the right-hand side, select the MenuShowDelay entry.
- Now right-click the MenuShowDelay entry, and from the popup menu, select Modify.
- Next, type a new value for the delay and click OK. To speed up the Start Menu, you would type 0 for the MenuShowDelay value.
- Finally, close the Registry Editor. Press Alt+F4 or select Exit in the File menu.
The startup delay in the Windows Start Menu will now be gone and you have taken another step in optimizing your computer’s user interface.
Thank you. It works.
