How To Password-Protect Your Computer During Standby or Hibernation in MS Windows XP Professional
To password-protect your computer during standby or hibernation in Windows XP Professional:
- Go to the Windows Start menu, click the Control Panel option, and then double-click the Power Options icon.
- Select the Advanced tab.
- Look for the Options section, click Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby. Note: The password required for the computer to start again is the password for the currently logged-on user.

@Ashraf – If you have already formated your disk (and reinstalled Windows I assume), then it is unlikely that it is a software problem.
It is more likely that you have an issue with your hardware. If it is a desktop, you can try opening the cover and see if the problem happens then, in which case it could be a overheating issue.
Otherwise you might need to take it to a local repair shop.

Mr. Anthony,
Thanks for your reply. I have done all the things which you have mentioned but the problem still same. i have checked for viruses & done the formatting the widows drive. but could not get any improvement.
Can you please help me in another way in this regard?
Looking forward to hear fromu very soon.
Thx,
ASHRAF.
@Asharaf – If you have disabled the power management, there must be another program that is initiating the standby. I’d check what else is running and see if you can clsoe programs and taskbar programs one-by-one to see if you can isolate which one.
Another thing to try is to disable automatic update in Windows, maybe you have some update cycle that is causing it.
